I'll leave the WRONG school photo up for a little time, so anyone coming across this blog for the first time can see the photo and my error in question.
I purchased two Longhorn Records about the same time (1978) the other being by Ray Pressley. But the 45 by Ray had an information sheet of paper that came with it giving a brief bio on Ray. The single by your Brownie did not have any information with it, that's what got me interested in finding out more about your grandfather. Unfortunately as you said there is very little info on the Internet on Brownie Johnson.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10481115953426442310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4234668106276735418.post-22628842218664021212014-01-17T19:36:51.282-08:002014-01-17T19:36:51.282-08:00I came across your page while googling my grandfat...I came across your page while googling my grandfather. I am shocked to see anything on the internet about him or his music. I am the only daughter of Brownie's youngest daughter. The second photo from Birmingham, AL is not him I can say with 100% certainty. He did not attend school in AL nor did he ever live there.

Thanks!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04042708456921028206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4234668106276735418.post-5069781624950657442013-05-01T08:30:27.949-07:002013-05-01T08:30:27.949-07:00Cheers chaps!Cheers chaps!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10481115953426442310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4234668106276735418.post-31985365495989275682013-05-01T08:14:05.592-07:002013-05-01T08:14:05.592-07:00Duke, the guy looks a lot like him so I would gues...Duke, the guy looks a lot like him so I would guess it's the same Brownie Johnson, which suggests he originated from Alabama or at least spent some time there.Mellowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13044405097316756294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4234668106276735418.post-45931482114552929472013-05-01T05:36:39.083-07:002013-05-01T05:36:39.083-07:00http://countrydiscography.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/b...http://countrydiscography.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/brownie-johnson.htmlApesvillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14875520637771224442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4234668106276735418.post-47819376053831502342013-05-01T05:32:57.701-07:002013-05-01T05:32:57.701-07:00Nashville (TN) 45 - 5049 (1962)Nashville (TN) 45 - 5049 (1962)Apesvillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14875520637771224442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4234668106276735418.post-61116135792753220862013-04-30T09:13:17.713-07:002013-04-30T09:13:17.713-07:00Thanks again Mellow, you are one knowledgeable dud...Thanks again Mellow, you are one knowledgeable dude!
Do you think the 1956 year book photo is the same Brownie?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10481115953426442310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4234668106276735418.post-2925842226562841922013-04-30T08:02:14.731-07:002013-04-30T08:02:14.731-07:00"Best Dressed Beggar in Town" was writte..."Best Dressed Beggar in Town" was written by Buck Turner, who sang with the Dixieland Drifters in the Chattanooga area. He also recorded with them/and solo for Hap, Do-Ra-Me and other labels, including a version of "Best Dressed Beggar" for Do-Ra-Me. Johnson was also active in Tennessee around the same time. Johnson's version was originally released on Starday's Nashville Records in '62. Oh by the way: Lynn Records was Johnson's own label.Mellowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13044405097316756294noreply@blogger.com
