Red Hot & Rockin' 1970

WILD ANGELS

The Wild Angels recorded 'Red Hot & Rockin' for the B&C label in 1970. I bought my copy in 1974 and I've never wanted to part with it. The rhythm section knocked me for six when first heard it, and it still packs a punch today.

Rachael Stokes - Love & Kisses

Back in 2007 I was searching the internet for artists and bands that play my kind of music, when I came across Rachael Stokes' 'YouTube' profile. Some of her posted videos were filmed with her singing in her shower(good for acoustics). I was impressed with her voice and her delivery of songs such as Janis Martin's 'My Confession' and 'My Boy Elvis'. Her style is suited to vintage rock 'n' roll, both ballads and driving rockabilly. These recordings are demos, with local (Nevada) band Pulling Strings on three of the songs and just Rachael and a very rhythmic rhythm guitar on the other two numbers! I had hoped at some point that she would be in a snapped up by some 'on the ball' producer and end up in a recording studio laying down tracks for her first album, but as yet this has not happened.

I Can't Find a Train

I've been digging this platter for years. MR. Roy Acuff with 'I Can't Find A Train'. I picked up this DJ ONLY 45 (in fact two 45's) from a buddy downsizing his excellent country vinyl collection back in 1978.
Roy was 72 years old when he cut this fine little platter, I've loved it then and still dig now.
Recorded April 1975 at the Acuff-Rose Sound Studio, Nashville, Tennessee.

Bargains of the day

Kirkwall had a pop up vinyl shop in Town on 31/08/13. I was not holding my expectations very high on finding anything that I would be remotely interested in, in fact what they had was mostly 80's and 90's music (and a few CD's too?) But would you believe it, the first table I came across had these five little beauties waiting for me, and the price was only £1 ($1.50) for all five!

All the MP3's in the links below were ripped from the vinyl records while playing on a 1961 Dansette record player.

(Got a) Heartsick Feeling

The only downer was this excellent looking Hank Locklin E.P volume 3 (above) in the Country Guitar collection, the vinyl inside was volume 7! (I could not believe he only wanted £1 for them all so double checking the records inside the sleeve did not occur to me). I believe the last owner of these records must have got his HANK's mixed up. The tracks on Volume 3 are; 'It's a Little More Like Heaven', 'Blue Grass Skirt', 'Why Don't You Haul Off & Love Me' and 'Send Me The Pillow You Sleep On'.
