Jamie (Bubba J) Faulkner

Today’s rock ‘n’ roll/rockin’/rockabilly (call it what you will) scene needs more talented young singer/songwriters, so it seems the scene is set for Bubba J. I knew nothing of this young hillbilly until I received the Rockabilly Rave updated brochure in the post from Jerry Chatabox. Jerry waxed so lyrically about Bubba J that I just had to find out more about him, and more importantly find out what this cat sounded like. My wish came true when a certain Mr Steve Stack O’wax announced Bubba J had a quest spot on his radio show. I listened in with an open mind and was thoroughly impressed with the sound I heard coming from such a young man. With just Bubba J on guitar and Dave Doel (from the Doel Brothers) on double bass, it sounded like a full band was playing. Bubba's voice stands out, so clear and precise (for the genre), he has the feel for the music and you can believe what he is singing about, where has this dude been hiding? I can not wait to hear the inevitable CD’s and vinyl that he will be recording in years to come. Come on record labels and recording studios this young talent is unsigned! Catch him at the 17th Rockabilly Rave 2013 on the Friday afternoon in the Queen Victoria Pub. Be sure to get there early because it is going to be a full house for sure...
